Every engagement follows the same four-step rhythm. Written down, priced upfront, billed on schedule.
Start with the call, always.
You bring the project, the constraints, the money. Randy listens, asks, pushes back. Delivers a written 4–6 page roadmap within five business days — plus an engagement estimate for what the project actually needs.
One block, contracted cleanly.
A written Statement of Work for exactly one engagement: the scope, the deliverable, the assumptions, the bucket (standard or exploratory). Deposit clears, calendar slot held, work begins the following Monday.
Forty focused hours, weekly rhythm.
Randy builds. Every Friday you get a hours-used log — no surprises. A 90-minute live working session each week. Async messages answered within 48 business hours. Invoices $1,000/week through week four.
Ship, then decide.
At the end of the engagement, you have the deliverable. If the project needs more blocks, Randy quotes the next SOW — fresh deposit, fresh scope. If you're done, you're done. Either side can end after any engagement with no obligation to continue.
The boring parts, written down. Deposit, weekly billing, scope clause, SLA, exploratory pricing — all agreed before a single hour is billed.
Calendar slot is held only after the deposit clears. No deposit, no start date — because Randy is booking someone else's slot otherwise.
Predictable cadence. Work pauses immediately on any unpaid invoice — not in two weeks, immediately. Keeps everyone honest.
New scope means a Change Order, priced and approved before any new work begins. No creeping invoices. No ambiguous 'well, while we're at it.'
Async messages answered within 48 business hours. One 90-minute live working session each week. Hours log every Friday.
50% premium for projects with significant technical uncertainty. Determined transparently during the Clarity Call, never surprise-billed later.
Either side can end after any engagement, no obligation to continue. Each new block starts with a fresh deposit and fresh scope.
An illustrative week-by-week. Your project will vary — the rhythm doesn't.
Book a Clarity Call. If your project isn't a fit for AVA Labs, Randy will tell you that on the call — and point you somewhere that is. Either way, you walk away with a written roadmap.
